Many infamous party spots such as Magaluf and Ayia Napa are known for attracting young party crowds. From the cheap alcohol on offer to never ending streets of clubs and bar, it was once the place to be for a summer of fun or the perfect way to celebrate (or commiserate) exam results.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to ABTA, 60% of young people took a foreign holiday over the last 12 months1<\/sup><\/a>, but where are they going? In the current climate, more young people are favouring trips that provide culture, attractions and experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new survey2<\/sup><\/a> of 1,000 18-32-year olds, conducted by SkyParkSecure, has revealed how young people prefer to holiday in 2024. The report uncovers everything from the type of holiday they prefer to how much they spend on a trip, and most importantly if the party holiday even appeals to them*.<\/p>\n\n\n

Only 5% would go on a party holiday \u2013 no more Kavos?<\/h2>\n\n\n

It seems like the days of living it up in Kavos are over, with only a small amount (5%) of young people saying they\u2019d prefer to go on a party holiday, and just 14% saying that the number of good bars and clubs in the area would be the deciding factor when choosing where to stay. Additionally, 23% of young people surveyed said they would NEVER choose a place that\u2019s known for its partying, with 21% of 18-25 year-olds dominating this statistic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, when it comes to repeat visitors, 36% of those who have visited a party holiday before would go back, with Ibiza being a favourite (46%), followed by Zante (25%), although it seems this is more favoured by 26-32-year olds (39%), than 18-25-year-olds.<\/p>\n\n\n

Three in 10 young people use credit cards to pay for their holiday<\/h2>\n\n\n

Considering hotels, flights and spending money, young people are spending \u00a3749.62 on average on holidays. In terms of funding their breaks, three in 10 admit to using their credit card, with 65% taking money from their savings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some young people admit to splashing out, with nearly one in 10 paying more than \u00a32,000 for a single trip abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Relaxing holidays<\/a> are now favoured by young people<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the demise of party holidays, what is now popular? 23% of young people are choosing a beach holiday instead, followed by a romantic trip away<\/a> (10%), an adventure holiday (10%) and a city break (9%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When it comes to deciding on a location, 40% agree the weather is a top factor, followed by the price (36%). Fitting with the new cultural preference of holidays, 29% of young people would decide their location based on the number of famous landmarks.<\/p>\n\n\n

TikTok isn\u2019t the main tool for holiday inspiration<\/h2>\n\n\n

Even though TikTok is preferred by many for travel inspiration, just over a quarter of young people use this for holiday planning which is lower than expected. Taking the top spot for holiday planning with 45% is researching websites, followed by TripAdvisor (31%).<\/p>\n\n\n

46% of young people prefer to go on holiday with family<\/h2>\n\n\n

When it comes to who they prefer to go on holiday with, nearly half of respondents said their family (46%), with friends following in second place at 31%. Solo travel endeavours are on the rise, with 14% wishing to embark on a solo trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
